Shields made of different materials and two new defensive mechanics.
Shield Expansion 1.19.2, 1.18.2 and 1.16.5 is a mod that focuses on one of the main defensive elements of the players, the shield. The idea is to offer several types of shields, made from different materials, to bring dynamism and versatility to Minecraft’s combat system.
Beyond simply being able to make shields of different materials, which provide different defense statistics depending on the material used, the mod adds two new mechanics for shields, Off-Guard Cooldown and Parrying. Let’s see what each of these two defense mechanics brings.
Off-Guard Cooldown will allow us to stop enemy hits, although it will have a cooldown or reuse time. This will force us to attack after defending ourselves with the shield. This reuse time depends on the material of the shield, waiting less time with the Netherite one and more time with the wooden one.
Parrying allows you to parry an attack by raising the shield before receiving the blow and pushing the attacker away. Doing this with a wooden or gold shield will cause some damage to the opponent. While doing it with an iron, diamond or Netherite shield will, in addition, return to the enemy part of the damage that his attack would have done to you. It also allows you to bypass the reuse time and we can stop projectiles.
